Phone Systems

Phone systems and your business:

The single most over looked piece of equipment in any business is their phone system, it is often perceived as this dormant non-active device that does very little for the organisation other then process phone calls.

Let’s look at some at the past and the future of phone systems:

A key system has telephones with multiple buttons that permit the user to directly select the telephone company's central office phone lines.  A key telephone system (KTS) is not a switch and bare little to zero feature sets to them, they are in effect like a dummy terminal that just process calls coming from the carrier to your handset that sits on your desk. Key Systems are also quite old in their technology, whilst they are reliable for what they do, they often prevent a business from being able to take advantage of new technologies that are geared towards advancing the business, and they don’t allow for tighter integration into other devices and applications within the organisation. Old Key Systems also cannot utilise the new trends of telephony services such as VoIP without expansive or complicated upgrades, even then the phone system will not perform any other function then to just process calls.

A Private Branch Exchange (PBX) allows for multiple voice trunks (Incoming Phone lines) from the central office (Exchange) to be shared amongst many users and allowing the switching for selecting these lines left to be handled within the PBX itself. PBX's which are also known as IP PBX systems, can completely enhance a users experience, and can transform the way an organisation does business, in an age where information is king, having a phone system that can integrate into your CRM solution can yield you award winning customer support/service, it can also increase the productivity level of a user which in turn can yield better results for the organisation.

At Etherworks we are a Cisco Premier Partner, for you this means great pricing, brilliant product assurances, highly certified engineers, and a complete end to end guarantee on what we deliver. Etherworks Primary focus is to make sure that each and every client achieves best results on any upgrades or migrations to new systems, we also work extremely hard to ensure you are getting what is required to manage your business efficiently and properly.

Some of the Features in an IP-PBX:

  • PoE or Power Over Ethernet - This uses your typical networking cable to power the phone and manage the Data side simultaneously
  • Network Switching - All Cisco Phone systems provide network switching/routing capabilities, so you can be assured you are getting the best when you use the award winning, and very powerful Cisco IOS (Internal Operating System).
  • Localised Voice Mail - All user handsets can have their own Voice Mail services, this can allow for greater flexibility to an individual staff, it can also avoid the problems of clients not being able to communicate with you
  • Voice Mail - 2 - E-mail - For many of us we are often found being too busy to always be at the office, so Cisco made sure to allow for Unified communications in their Phone Systems, one of the Unified Communication features is to have your voice mail deposits e-mailed to you, very useful when you are constantly on the road, but yet every message is an important one for you.
  • Greater Integration - All Cisco Phone systems can integrate into CRM solutions, Microsoft Outlook and other third-party applications, this is very useful when you want to be able to manage your customers more efficiently

Key systems are usually found in small companies where few features are required.  A PBX is usually found in larger companies that need more capabilities.
